Bentz is WIDC 2004 director alumna and a graduate of the Vancouver Playhouse Acting School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. Since then she has worked tirelessly as Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of the internationally award winning full figure theatre company for which she has written, performed and produced the troupe's highly acclaimed original works all over the world. full figure theatre received The Award of Excellence in Adelaide, Australia and the Scotsman’s Pick of the Day Award for the troupe’s production of THE F WORD (OR CAN FEMINISM BE FUNNY?). In addition, full figure’s production of way too blonde received the Best O’ the Fest award in Melbourne, Australia. Presently, Bentz is working with full figure on their annual Women’s Day Festival, busTin’ ouT six, which is a four-day festival highlighting original work of Canadian female talent. The festival also features a series of workshops as well as a forum entitled THE BUSINESS OF CREATIVITY. In addition to directing for the theatre where Bentz has directed for Green Thumb Theatre and Theatre Under The Gun, Bentz completed the Script Supervision and Continuity Program at the Vancouver Film School in 1997 and has been busy working as Script Supervisor ever since. She gained massive amounts of experience working closely with all types of Directors on a wide range of film projects and eventually wrote, directed and produced her short film CHOMP. CHOMP was screened at the Moondance International Film Festival in Boulder, Colorado where it was a Finalist for the Best Short Film Award. CHOMP has been featured at the Yorkton Film Festival and the Vancouver Sista’hood Festival this past spring. CHOMP was also featured on a Texas Cable station, which was broadcast throughout the Southern United States. In 2004 Bentz directed a fitness video as well as the dramtic portion of the Tom Longboat episode for Annie Frazier Henry's CHIEFS AND CHAMPIONS which airs on APTN. In 2005 she co-produced OUT OF SIGHT, a short film directed by fellow alumna Carole Ducharme and directed a trailer for THE NEW MUM SHOW a lifestyle series she is developing. |
