Susan Shipton went to Queen's University and graduated in 1982 with a degree in Film Studies. She then worked as an assistant picture and sound editor for close to ten years in Toronto. Her credits as an assistant picture editor include David Cronenberg's 'The Fly' and Sturla Gunnarsson's FINAL OFFER. Susan's first credit as an editor was on Atom Egoyan's THE ADJUSTER, this film began a longtime creative collaboration that includes Egoyan's most recent film WHERE THE TRUTH LIES. Susan was nominated for Best Achievement in Editing for THE LOTUS EATERS, I LOVE A MAN IN UNIFORM, EXOTICA, LONG DAYS JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, THE SWEET HEREAFTER and POSSIBLE WORLDS. She won the award for THE SWESAT HEREAFTER and POSSIBLE WORLDS. Susan recently won The Director's Guild of Canada Achievement in Editing Award for BEING JULIA, starring Annette Bening and directed by Istvan Szabo. Most recently, Susan had a lot of fun cutting a teen comedy directed by Christian Charles for New Line. Susan's television work includes BLESSED STRANGER: THE FATE OF FLIGHT 111 with David Wellington and episodes of the series NEROA WOLFE with Timothy Hutton and John L'Ecuyer. Susan lives in Toronto with her husband and two dogs. She is currently adapting Helen Humphrey's novel WILD DOGS for a feature film which she will direct. |
